Privacy Policy
Effective 1 October 2026. Last updated 25 October 2026.
The short version
- We collect only what Pawfessor needs to work: your account, your dog's profile and training, the health calendar you keep, and the dog photo you choose to add.
- No ads and no tracking across apps or websites. We use anonymous app analytics and crash reports, not linked to your account, to fix problems and improve Pawfessor. We do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.
- You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, in the app or at pawfessor.web.app/delete-account.
This Privacy Policy explains how RHH LLC ("RHH LLC", "we", "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Pawfessor mobile app on iPhone and Android, this website and related services (together, the "Service"). It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
1. Who we are
Pawfessor is operated by RHH LLC, which decides how and why your personal information is processed (the "controller" under the GDPR and similar laws). On Google Play the app is currently published through a developer account held on behalf of RHH LLC; this policy applies the same way there.
Contact for anything in this policy: pawfessor.app@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Account information
When you create an account or sign in, we process:
- your email address;
- your display name, if your sign in provider shares one (otherwise the part of your email before the "@");
- a unique user id created by our authentication service;
- the sign in method you used: Apple, Google, Facebook, or email and password;
- the date your account was created.
Passwords for email accounts are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us. When you use Apple, Google or Facebook, we never receive your password. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, in which case we receive a private relay address from Apple. With Facebook we ask only for your public profile and email address; on iPhone we use Facebook Limited Login, which is designed not to be used for tracking.
2.2 Your dog and your training
- Dog profile: your dog's name, sex, age group and breed.
- Onboarding answers: commands your dog already knows, your training goals, the programs and topics you pick, how much time you have each day and how you describe your role with your dog.
- Progress: lessons, commands and programs completed, your ratings of lessons, streaks and passport stamps.
- Wellness and health calendar: check ins about your dog (energy, sleep, appetite and similar), vet visits, vaccinations, medication, grooming and other events, any notes you add, and your own event templates.
This information is about your dog, but it is personal information once it is linked to your account. Please do not enter information about people in notes, such as your own health details.
2.3 Your dog's photo
If you add a photo of your dog, either one you take with the camera in the app or one you choose from your photo library, a copy no larger than 1280 pixels is kept on your phone and a smaller copy (about 720 pixels wide) is stored in your account so it comes back when you sign in on another phone. Both copies are re-encoded from the image itself, so they do not carry camera metadata such as the location where the photo was taken. Please add only photos you have the right to use, and avoid photos where people can be recognised.
2.4 Purchases
Subscriptions are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Our subscription service, RevenueCat, receives your user id, the product you bought, transaction ids, purchase, renewal and expiry dates, store receipts, your store country and currency, and basic device information (device type, operating system and app version). We use this only to unlock Premium, restore purchases and prevent fraud. We never receive your card or bank details.
2.5 Trainer chat (AI)
The trainer chat is an AI, not a person. Before your first message, the app tells you that the trainer is an AI and that your messages are sent to an AI service, and asks for your permission. This section explains exactly what is sent and to whom. When you use the chat, your message, the recent conversation (up to the last 4 messages of your saved conversation) and your dog's name, breed, age group and sex are sent through our server to OpenAI, which writes the reply. Your message and the reply are also checked by OpenAI's moderation service so the chat does not produce harmful content; a message that fails the check gets a fixed reply and is not saved. Your conversation is saved in your account so you can read it again later, on any of your devices. Clear conversation in the chat deletes it at any time, and it is deleted with your account. To enforce fair use limits we keep a counter of how many messages each account sent on a given day, which is deleted after 30 days. If you report an answer with Report under it, the answer, your question just before it and your user id are stored for us to review, and deleted after 12 months.
Please do not share sensitive personal information, such as passwords, payment details, government ids or anyone's health records, in the chat.
2.6 Technical information
When the app connects to our service providers (Google Firebase, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, Meta when you use Facebook Login, and OpenAI when you use the chat), they receive the technical information every internet connection carries: your IP address, device type, operating system and app version, and the time of the request. They use it to deliver their service, keep it secure and prevent abuse. Google Firebase also creates identifiers it needs to run its services for your copy of the app, such as a Firebase installation ID, and the chat's connection library may attach one to chat requests. We do not use these to identify or track you.
App analytics and crash reports. Pawfessor uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. Analytics receives events such as the screens you open, the onboarding questions you reach, whether a free trial started or a purchase or sign in failed (with the store's or provider's error code), the lessons you finish and the features you use, together with an identifier for your copy of the app, your device type, operating system, app version, language and approximate country (worked out from your IP address, which Analytics does not store). It never receives what you type, your dog's name or photo, your health notes or your chat messages. Crashlytics receives a report when the app crashes or when a purchase or sign in fails unexpectedly: the technical error, the state of the device at that moment and a Crashlytics installation identifier. We do not link analytics or crash reports to your account, email address or user id, and we do not use them for advertising.
Pawfessor contains no advertising tools. It does not collect advertising identifiers (we removed the Android advertising id permission and turned off the advertising features of Firebase Analytics), and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
2.7 When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
2.8 What we do not collect
Your precise location, contacts, microphone, photos other than the one you choose, browsing history, advertising identifiers, or health information about you.
2.9 Test versions
If you test a pre-release version of Pawfessor through Apple TestFlight or a Google Play testing track, Apple or Google also share with us the information their testing programs provide, such as your name and email address if you were invited by email, the device and system version, crash reports and any feedback or screenshots you choose to send. We use it only to fix and improve the app. Apple's and Google's own privacy policies apply to their testing programs.
3. What stays on your phone
- Reminders and notifications are scheduled on your phone. We do not use a push notification service and do not collect notification tokens.
- Appearance and other settings, and the full size dog photo.
- Calendar sync (optional, in Health): the app creates a calendar called "Pawfessor" on your phone and writes your dog's health events into it. Your phone asks for calendar access because it offers no narrower permission, but the app works only with the "Pawfessor" calendar it created. It does not read, copy or upload your other calendars or events.
- If you use the app without an account, everything you enter stays on your phone.
4. How we use information, and our legal bases
| Purpose | Legal basis (EEA, UK and similar laws) |
|---|---|
| Running the app: your plan, progress, health calendar and photo, kept in sync across your devices | Performance of our contract with you |
| Premium subscriptions, free trials and restoring purchases | Performance of our contract with you |
| Trainer chat replies, when you ask a question | Performance of our contract with you |
| App analytics and crash reports, to find and fix problems and to improve the app | Our legitimate interest in a Pawfessor that works and gets better |
| Security, fair use limits, fraud and abuse prevention | Our legitimate interest in keeping the Service safe and available |
| Checking chat messages and answers for harmful content, and reviewing answers you report | Our legitimate interest in keeping the chat safe and meeting app store rules |
| Answering your emails and requests | Performance of our contract, or our legitimate interest in helping you |
| Tax and accounting records, responding to lawful requests, defending legal claims | Legal obligation, or our legitimate interest in protecting our rights |
| Calendar access, notifications, the camera and choosing a photo | Your consent, given through your phone's permission prompts; you can withdraw it at any time in your phone's settings |
We do not use your information for advertising or marketing profiles, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. We do not use your content to train AI models and do not allow OpenAI to do so: under OpenAI's terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models unless a customer opts in, and we have not.
5. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with the service providers that run Pawfessor for us, under contracts that limit their use of it, and only as far as each one needs:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Firebase Hosting, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Google Sign-In, Google Play) | Accounts, storing your data, the trainer chat server, this website, app analytics and crash reports, Google sign in and Android purchases. Your app data is stored in Google's European data centres; sign in records are held on Google's global infrastructure, including the United States. Privacy policy |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases. Privacy policy |
| Meta Platforms | Facebook Login, only if you choose it. Privacy policy |
| RevenueCat, Inc. (United States) | Managing subscriptions and purchase records. Privacy policy |
| OpenAI (United States) | Writing trainer chat replies, only when you use the chat. Privacy policy |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it (for example a valid court order), to protect the safety, rights or property of our users, the public or RHH LLC, to investigate fraud or abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information and we will tell you about the change.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are used in California and other US state privacy laws.
6. International transfers
RHH LLC is a United States company, and some of our providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where the law of your country requires safeguards for such transfers, we rely on recognised mechanisms such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions) where the provider is certified, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. How long we keep information
| Information | Kept |
|---|---|
| Account, dog profile, training, health calendar, dog photo | Until you delete your account. Deletion removes it from our live databases straight away. |
| Trainer chat conversations | Until you press Clear conversation in the chat or delete your account. OpenAI may keep API requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse, under its own policy. |
| Chat usage counters | 30 days. |
| App analytics events | Up to 14 months, then deleted by Google. |
| Crash reports | 90 days. |
| Reports of chat answers | 12 months, then deleted. |
| Purchase and transaction records (RevenueCat, Apple, Google) | As long as tax, accounting and anti-fraud rules require. |
| Emails with us | As long as needed to deal with your request and any follow up. |
| Provider logs and backups | For a limited period under each provider's own schedule, after which they are overwritten. |
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time:
- in the app: Settings, Account, Delete account;
- on the web: pawfessor.web.app/delete-account;
- or by emailing pawfessor.app@gmail.com from the address on your account. We complete email requests within 30 days.
Deleting your account permanently deletes your sign in record, your profile, your dog's profile, training progress, health calendar and the stored photo, and clears them from the phone you delete from. If you signed in with Apple, the app also asks Apple to revoke Pawfessor's access. Reports you sent about chat answers are kept until they expire after 12 months, so we can finish reviewing them. Purchase records that tax and accounting rules require us or the stores to keep are not deleted; you can ask us to delete your RevenueCat customer record by email.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings first.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it, including in a portable, machine readable format;
- correct inaccurate information (most of it you can change directly in the app);
- delete your information;
- restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on our legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that happened before;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising (we do none of these);
- not be treated differently for using any of these rights;
- complain to a data protection or consumer authority, such as the supervisory authority where you live in the EEA or the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
To use any of these rights, email pawfessor.app@gmail.com. To protect your account, we may ask you to write from the email address on the account or confirm your identity in another way. You may use an authorised agent where your law allows it. We reply within one month (GDPR) or 45 days (US state laws), and tell you if we need longer as the law permits. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our answer; if we deny the appeal, you can contact your state's Attorney General or your local data protection authority.
10. Children
Pawfessor is made for dog owners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the age set by the law of your country if higher. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, encryption at rest by our providers, database rules that let only you read and change your own data, keys that stay on our servers rather than in the app, and limits on how often accounts can call our services. No one at RHH LLC looks at your data except when you ask us to help with your account or when the law requires it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be lost, corrupted, accessed or disclosed without authorization, for example because of a software bug, a failure at one of our providers or an attack. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires. Pawfessor is not a backup or medical record service: keep your own copy of important health records. Our responsibility for such events is set out in sections 17, 18 and 22 of the Terms of Use, as far as the law allows.
12. Your choices
- Turn notifications, calendar sync and camera access on or off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Use Pawfessor without an account, in which case your data stays on your phone.
- Delete your account and data at any time (section 8).
Because we do not track you, there is nothing for a browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off.
13. Notice for California and other US state residents
In the last 12 months we collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (email address, user id), commercial information (subscription and purchase records), internet or network activity limited to the technical data, app analytics and crash reports in section 2.6, and other information you provide (your dog's profile, training data, health calendar notes and photo). We collect them from you, your device and the sign in and store providers you use, for the purposes in section 4, and disclose them only to the service providers in section 5. We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by California law, and we do not sell or share personal information.
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when Pawfessor or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
