Cuts and Cut Paw Pads

Usually handled at home. Call your vet if it gets worse or you are unsure.

What to do

  1. Rinse with clean water or saline to flush out dirt
  2. Press with a clean cloth until the bleeding stops
  3. Check for glass or thorns; remove only what comes out easily
  4. Cover the paw with a clean sock and tape to keep it clean

See the vet if

  • The cut is deeper than the skin or wider than 1 cm
  • It won't stop bleeding after 10 minutes of pressure
  • Something is stuck in it
